#GivingTuesdayKaty Celebrates #GivingTuesday Giving Back to the Nonprofits that Serve the Katy community

KATY, Texas (October 30, 2018) – The #GivingTuesday movement is coming to Katy, and #GivingTuesdayKaty will be celebrated on Nov. 27 by the businesses and community giving back to the nonprofits that serve the Katy community.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.

#GivingTuesdayKaty joined the #GivingTuesday movement to bring the nonprofits together to collaborate and work together for the community they serve. Sixteen nonprofits are participating in the first-ever #GivingTuesdayKaty, including The Arc of Katy, Attack Poverty Friends of Sundown, The Ballard House, Clothed By Faith, Christ Clinic, Compassion Katy, Fostering Success Foundation, Hope Impacts, Joe Joe Bear Foundation, Katy Cares, Katy Christian Ministries, Katy ISD Education Foundation, Krause Children’s Center, Neighborhood KidZ Club, Sons of Keturah and YMCA. With Members Choice Credit Union being our presenting sponsor and well known in the community, we know we have a great team to help unite the City of Katy. This is the inaugural year for #GivingTuesdayKaty to participate in #GivingTuesday and the goals are to raise awareness for these nonprofits, get people to volunteer at these nonprofits and to raise monetary donations.

“The city of Katy is a giving community and the best way to give back is to support the different nonprofits that make Katy a great place to live and thrive daily,” said Sarah Beaton, citizen of Katy and organizer for #GivingTuesdayKaty. “We are encouraging the people of Katy to give back to the nonprofits that serve their community.”

Founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y – a community and cultural center in New York City − #GivingTuesday inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in. There are over 100 cities that are participating in #GivingTuesday.
